We honour Harriet Taylor Mill, on the day that we celebrate the centenary of the Act of parliament that meant that for the fist time certain women got the vote in the United Kingdom , along with working class men, those without property.
This picture, a painting rather than a photograph, is perhaps the only, such, portrait we have, of Harriet Taylor Mill, writer, thinker, advocate of human rights and women’s and universal suffrage, wife of the greatest Liberal philosopher John Stuart Mill, with whom she collaborated and who she inspired, in his great works, On Liberty and The Subjection of Women.
